Which washer to choose for your duvet

A double duvet goes in the large 14 kg washer. The medium 9 kg washer is meant for your weekly laundry: a double duvet would be too tight in it. If you bring two duvets, use the maxi 18 kg washer.

There is only one rule: the duvet must be able to move in the drum. Don't overload the machine, or the wash and rinse won't reach the filling properly.

The machines in each laundry

All three laundries have medium, large and maxi washers, 14 kg dryers and a pair of machines dedicated to pets.

Why two duvets cost less

With two duvets you use one maxi washer (€12) instead of two large ones (€20). For drying, split them into two dryers for 30 minutes (€6 each): each duvet has room to fluff up and dry in a single cycle. About €24 in total, i.e. €12 per duvet, 25% less than washing them one at a time.

Traditional laundry or self-service: what's the difference

At a traditional laundry you leave your duvet with a professional and come back another day to collect it. The price depends on size, filling and area: market rates are roughly €25-35 per duvet. It's always worth asking for a quote and a pick-up date.

Water wash or dry cleaning: what's the difference

Dry cleaning uses solvents instead of water, such as perchloroethylene or hydrocarbon-based solvents, followed by extraction and drying to remove them from the fabric.

How long does it take

Washing and drying take roughly one hour. A very thick or natural-down duvet may need longer in the dryer. Before putting it back on the bed or storing it, check that it is dry inside too: moisture left in the filling is the most common cause of bad smells.

You can stay in the laundry and finish everything in one visit, with no second trip to collect it.
